GoldenStep™ — The Support Harness That Helps Your Dog Enjoy Their Good Days Again

Because the dog who’s always been there for you shouldn’t have to struggle just to stand.

Senior dog wearing the GoldenStep support harness

You know the look.

They push up on their front legs… pause… then try to bring their back end with them. Slowly. Carefully. Sometimes with a bit of pain.

The slip on the kitchen floor.

The hesitation at the bottom of the stairs.

That moment by the boot of the car when you both know they can’t quite make the jump anymore.

Senior dog being supported by their owner

They’ve been by your side for years. Through house moves, long days, quiet evenings on the sofa. And somewhere along the way — between the grey muzzle and the slower walks — things begin to change.

They need a bit of help now.

And that’s exactly what the GoldenStep™ harness is for.

Designed for hounds in their later years

Older dog walking comfortably with full-body harness support

The GoldenStep™ senior support harness isn’t just a standard harness with a handle added on.

It’s a proper, full-body mobility support system — designed alongside canine physiotherapists for older dogs, dogs with arthritis, hip dysplasia, joint issues, or simply the natural wear and tear that comes with age.

With support at both the front and the rear, it does something most harnesses can’t:

It helps you support your dog’s entire body — the way they actually move.

Whether it’s:

  • Getting up from their bed
  • Walking across slippery floors
  • Climbing the stairs
  • Or stepping into the car

You’re right there, helping them steadily and comfortably.

Support for them — without strain for you

Lifting a dog several times a day takes its toll on your back.

That’s why the top handle sits exactly where your hand naturally falls — so you can support them in one smooth, upright motion.

No awkward bending. No twisting. Just steady, controlled support whenever they need it.

What sets it apart

There are plenty of harnesses out there. A few small details make all the difference — especially for older hounds.

Detail of the harness construction and stitching

1

Step-in design — no lifting legs, no struggle

If your dog has stiff or painful joints, the last thing they need is having their legs manoeuvred through straps.

The GoldenStep™ harness lays flat. They simply step in (or you guide them gently), and it fastens comfortably around them. No stress. No discomfort. No resistance before you’ve even left the house.

2

True full-body support

Many harnesses only support one end of the dog.

But older dogs rarely have just one weak spot — they compensate, shift weight, and over time both ends need support.

This harness supports the front and rear together, helping them move more naturally and with greater confidence.

3

Breathable, comfortable for everyday wear

Senior dogs often wear their harness more frequently — not just for walks, but for day-to-day movement.

That’s why the material matters.

The breathable mesh keeps them comfortable without overheating, while staying soft against sensitive skin and thinning coats.

Suitable for short outings, longer walks, and everything in between — even in warmer weather.

Built to last — because it has to

We could have made this cheaper.

Thinner straps. Basic stitching. Lower-grade materials.

But that wouldn’t hold up to real use.

The GoldenStep™ is built to support the full weight of your dog — whether that’s helping them up the stairs, steadying them outdoors, or assisting them day after day.

From the stitching to the buckles, every detail has been chosen for durability, comfort, and reliability.

Because when you’re supporting your dog, you need equipment you can trust.

A proper fit for real dogs

No older dog fits perfectly into a “standard size”.

They change over time — weight shifts, muscle loss, uneven posture.

That’s why each size (S, M, L, XL) is fully adjustable, so you can get a snug, secure fit without rubbing or gaps.

A small tip: measure carefully before ordering — a well-fitted harness makes all the difference. Use the fitting guide →

What owners are saying

“I had tears in my eyes writing this. My 13-year-old collie hadn’t managed the garden steps on her own in months. First walk with this harness and her tail was up again. That’s all I wanted.”

Sarah B., Bristol · with Maple, Border Collie

“Worth every penny. My Labrador had surgery and this got us through recovery. The handle saved my back during the rehab walks.”

Martin H., Glasgow · with Bracken, Labrador

“Tried a cheaper one first and it just didn’t work. This one is on another level — much better fit and far more comfortable for my old hound.”

Jenny W., Manchester · with Henry, Spaniel

A quiet truth about older dogs

The hardest part isn’t the slower walks, or the extra care.

It’s knowing your time together is shorter than it used to be — and wanting the days you have left to be as good as they can be.

A good day becomes something simple:

  • ·Getting outside without slipping
  • ·Having a gentle wander down the lane
  • ·Climbing the stairs to sleep nearby
  • ·Joining you for the little things

When mobility starts to go, those moments begin to fade.

This harness helps bring them back.

Not forever — but for longer.

With less strain. More comfort. And more dignity.

60-day returns

Try it for 60 days — risk free

We’re confident you’ll see a real difference in how your dog moves and feels.

That’s why every harness comes with a 60-day return window.

Use it at home. On walks. On the stairs. In the car.

If you don’t see an improvement, simply send it back for a full refund.

No fuss. No questions asked.

Just give your dog a few days to settle into it — most do, quite quickly.

Give your dog the support they’ve earned

They’ve spent years looking after you.

Now it’s your turn.

FAQ

Measuring your dog properly is the single most important thing you can do. Take two measurements: the chest girth (widest part, just behind the front legs) and the body length (from base of neck to base of tail).

As a rough guide:

  • Small: Cocker Spaniels, Beagles, Border Terriers (chest 50-65cm)
  • Medium: Bulldogs, Springer Spaniels, medium mixed breeds (chest 65-80cm)
  • Large: Labradors, Golden Retrievers, Border Collies (chest 80-95cm)
  • Extra Large: German Shepherds, Great Danes, Rottweilers (chest 95-115cm)

If your dog sits between two sizes, size up — the adjustable straps handle the rest.

Yes — this harness was specifically designed with these conditions in mind. The full-body support distributes weight evenly, reducing pressure on painful joints. The step-in design means no painful leg manipulation to get it on, and the padded mesh prevents rubbing on sensitive areas.

That said, every dog is different. If your dog is recovering from surgery or has a severe condition, we always recommend checking with your vet before introducing any new mobility aid.

The harness is designed to be comfortable enough for extended wear. Many owners leave it on throughout the day so they can quickly assist their dog with getting up, navigating stairs, or moving around the house without having to put it on and off repeatedly.

The breathable mesh prevents overheating, and the soft lining won't rub even with all-day use. We do recommend removing it at night and checking the fit regularly to ensure no chafing.

Most dogs adjust within a few days — especially because the step-in design means there's no stressful leg-lifting involved. We recommend introducing it gradually:

  • Let them sniff the harness for a day before putting it on
  • Start with short 5-10 minute wear sessions indoors with treats
  • Gradually extend the time and add gentle walks

Most dogs associate it with the relief of easier movement within the first week — and start willingly stepping into it at the door.

Yes — the harness features a reinforced D-ring for lead attachment, so it works as both a support harness and a walking harness. You don't need a separate collar for walks.

For dogs with serious mobility issues, we recommend using the top handle for support AND a lead on the D-ring for extra control. This gives you two points of contact without any pressure on your dog's neck.

The harness is fully machine washable. We recommend washing it on a gentle cycle at 30°C with mild detergent, then air drying (avoid the tumble dryer to preserve the material and stitching).

For spot cleaning between washes, a damp cloth with a little mild soap works well on the mesh and straps.

Absolutely — many of our customers use it specifically for post-surgery recovery, particularly after cruciate ligament operations, hip replacements, or spinal surgery. The full-body support allows controlled, gentle movement during the rehabilitation period without putting weight through the affected area.

Always follow your vet's rehabilitation guidance on how much and how often your dog should be moving. The harness supports the process — it doesn't replace veterinary advice.
